Every session runs the same way. Nothing here is a surprise on the day.
What happens
We talk first
It starts with an email — what the photographs are for, what you have in mind, anywhere you'd love to shoot. We settle on a time and a place together. If you're nervous, say so; most people are, and knowing it changes how I pace the session.
Deciding what to wear
A few days out I'll send short wardrobe notes based on where we're shooting. Solid colors, simple shapes, nothing you'd fidget in. Bring a couple of options — we'll pick together when we meet.
The session itself
Sixty to ninety minutes, unhurried. We walk, we talk, I photograph as we go. No posing charts, no counting to three. The first twenty minutes are the warm-up — the best frames always arrive after you've half-forgotten the camera.
Your photographs
A preview lands in your inbox within a few days. The full edited set — usually fifteen to twenty-five finished images — arrives inside two weeks, ready to download, print, and post anywhere you like.

What's the catch?
There isn't one, but the question is fair — free offers deserve suspicion. I'm building a body of portrait work, and that takes a range of faces, not a price list. The trade is honest: you get a real session and finished photographs you'll love; I get to make work I'm proud of and show it. That's the whole arrangement.
I'm not photogenic — is that a problem?
You're describing how you feel in front of a camera, not how you look. Nearly everyone who says this has only been photographed at parties, under fluorescent light, by surprise. A session is nothing like that. We take our time, nobody rushes, and about twenty minutes in the self-consciousness burns off. That's when the good frames happen — it always goes this way.
What should I wear?
Simple shapes, solid colors, clothes you actually feel like yourself in. Bring two or three options and we'll decide together. Skip big logos and busy patterns — they date a photograph and pull attention from your face. When in doubt, dress a small step nicer than an ordinary day.
How many photos do I get?
A curated set — usually fifteen to twenty-five finished images, each edited individually. I'd rather hand you twenty photographs you love than three hundred you have to sort through yourself. Curation is part of the work.
How long until I see them?
A small preview within a few days, and the full edited set inside two weeks. Editing well takes longer than shooting — that's normal, and it's where a lot of the craft lives.

I spent the whole drive there trying to think of a way to cancel. Twenty minutes in I forgot there was a camera. The photos look like me on a good day, which I did not think was a thing that existed.
I booked it because it was free and I assumed there'd be a catch — some upsell at the end. There wasn't. He just took good photographs and sent them over.
My mother is 82 and has hidden from every camera for forty years. She has the print from this session on her hallway wall.
